Studying the problems of hydrotherapy resorts, A.S. Zalmanov (doctor, naturopath and gerontologist) has convinced wonderful healing properties of the water and found that using hot or cold baths can affect the capillary network, regulate blood circulation in different organs, to restore vascular permeability, – in other words, to restore normal metabolism.
Using these properties of water, Zalmanov implemented the practice of various modifications of the therapeutic baths (salt, herbal, foot, hand, turpentine).
A. Zalmanov suggested using turpentine mixture to improve the methods of treatment of hot tubs. Advantage of baths is common that they have an impact on the capillary network of substantially all the skin surface.
Turpentine baths are natural therapies. Apply white and yellow bath. Action of bath caused by properties of the main active ingredient, which is included in their composition. This is the turpentine obtained from the resin of coniferous trees.
Indications for turpentine baths
- Diseases of the cardiovascular system (hypertension, angina pectoris, thrombophlebitis, arterial occlusive disease, atherosclerosis of the lower extremities, Raynaud’s disease, vascular dystonia, hypotonia)
- Diseases of bones and joints (arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, rheumatism)
- Diseases of the urinary system (glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis)
- Diseases of the liver and gall bladder (hepatitis, cirrhosis, cholecystitis)
- Respiratory diseases (bronchitis, asthma, pharyngitis, sinusitis)
- Reproductive system diseases (adnexitis, prostatitis)
- Neurology (polyneuropathy, neuritis, sciatica, lumbalgia)
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Preventive remedy for colds
Turpentine baths come in three varieties: white, yellow and mixed.
Contraindications to the use of turpentine baths
- open tuberculosis
- arrhythmia
- heart failure 2-3 tbsp.
- hypertension stage II-III
- skin diseases in acute, scabies
- acute inflammation or exacerbation of chronic diseases
- malignant neoplasms
- pregnancy
- idiosyncrasy turpentine baths.
Strengthening of joint pains, sometimes with a slight fever, is not a reason to cancel the baths.
White bath should be used only in patients with normal or low (not higher than 140-150 / 90) arterial blood pressure. Patients who have this level above only yellow bath are prescribed.
White bath
This type of bath is intended for people with low or normal blood pressure. This procedure is not accompanied by an increase in temperature and profuse sweating. The composition of white bath has an irritating effect (which is reflected in tingling or burning of the skin).
Use of white emulsion improves tissue nutrition, the development of collateral circulation and stabilizes blood pressure. Bath temperature – 37-39 degrees. Every 3-5 minutes, as the cooling bath, the hot water should be added, following the indications of the water thermometer. The procedure lasts 5-10 minutes.
After the procedure, you need to get out of the bath, without drying, put on a bathrobe or wrapped in a sheet and just go to bed. If the treatment is carried out during the daytime, it is recommended bed rest for 1.5-2 hours.
During the adoption of the white bath may occur burning sensation of the skin on different parts of the body. This is a normal reaction, usually within one hour of burning passes. If a burning sensation after the bath did not have – during the following procedure, the dose of added emulsion should be increased by 1/2 tablespoon.
By the end of therapy white bath volume of the emulsion is adjusted to 8 tablespoons in the bath. We value during treatment with the maximum blood pressure exceeds 150 mm Hg. Art., must go on mixed bath, adding to the white emulsion yellow solution.
Yellow bath
This type of bath is recommended for people with high blood pressure (greater than 140/90 mm Hg. Art.). Yellow bath expand capillaries, helps to reduce blood pressure. They cause a general increase in body temperature, stimulates perspiration and removal through the skin metabolism products.
The yellow solution in the first bath is used in an amount of 1 tablespoon. The initial temperature should be 37°C. Allowed the formation of a pellicle with a solution of lumps on the surface of the water. As the temperature rises lumps dissolve. Starting treatment with a temperature of 37°C. Every 3 minutes the temperature is increased by 1 ° C, pouring hot water and brings to a temperature of 39-42 ° C.
During the bath is necessary to closely monitor the state of health, state of pulse and respiration. After taking a bath you need without drying, to rest in bed for 1-2 hours, or if the procedure is carried out before going to bed, go to bed. Increase in the yellow solution for each procedure 1/2 tablespoon, bringing it, as in the case of white baths to 8 tablespoons.
Mixed baths
During the treatment mixed baths using a combination of white and yellow emulsion solution in a bath or courses of alternating white and yellow baths.
Dosages of each of turpentine additives in combination depending on the level of blood pressure, as well as in the case of a particular disease, and the nature of the pathological process.
Increasing the pressure over 150/90 mm Hg. Art. requires the addition of a yellow solution, while reducing pressure at the dose shown to increase white emulsion. In each case it is necessary to make an individual selection of doses in the range of 1-2 tablespoons of each composition with a gradual increase or decrease their volume and adjusting the final grand total to 120 ml. A. Zalmanov recommended in reducing systolic blood pressure below 140 mm Hg. Art. alternation of baths: after the two white baths – one yellow bath. If, however, such a treatment regimen blood pressure is within 150-180 mm Hg. Art., after three white bath appointed one yellow.
If you have complications it is recommended to reduce the frequency and duration of bathing, but not to stop the treatment.
